“When I paint an abstract piece there’s nothing to compare it to, no rules, I find that freedom exhilarating.

Most of my inspiration comes from feelings or emotions, elicited by an experience, a place, or a person. Painting helps me better understand myself and the things I’ve been through.”

Val is a Canadian artist with a passion for connecting people to different perspectives when observing her artwork. She is originally from Ontario, and what brought her to Vancouver was her love of nature and the mountains.

She works mainly with abstract styles, sometimes incorporating realism. But really enjoys the autonomy that abstract allows.
